Default One wheel dead

Hi, my '98 Nissan Sentra has some problem(s) with left-front wheel. It's obviously 2-wheel, front drive so it's kinda serious. The wheel completely died on me when I came back from work and tried parking in snow. I thankfully got in but then I got stuck into snow/ice little bit and tried backing but nothing seemed to work. When I popped the hood it smelled like something burned up. I coudln't see anything since it was after 11PM, but I could tell that some wires were burning hot. I changed gears a lot when I was returning home, since deep snow reduced my traction to barely any. Not sure if someone will know anything about this but oh well, worth a try.
