RE: is it possible to fix my clutch on my own?

Not sure but I have a 1995 200sx and I have see clutch replacement kits that include an alignment tool. Maybe that is what they are talking about. The tool alone is only about $15.
Can you check a repair manual like Hayes. Autoparts stores sell then for under $20. You should have one anyway if you do any work yourself or have others work on your car.
Knowledge is good protection from being ripped off by repair shops.

Good luck with the repairs.

RE: is it possible to fix my clutch on my own?

i did mine last winter, just get a book and follow the step by step instructions. the tool you are talking about is just the clutch alinement tool, you dont need it but it is handy. other than usual wrenches and sockets you will need some jackstands or blocks and a small floor jack .if you hustle and dont screw around it can be done in 6 hrs or less.on my sentra the clutch was slipping but the prob was actually the pressure plate being weak.not sure what they are chargeing for a clutch replacement job but if it takes you even up to 2 days ill bet you caN make at least 100-150$ a day dooing it yourself.happy wrenching!!!:)

if you dont have a alignment tool, you CAN eye it up but it maybe a pain to get the tranny back on.

A clutch kit should come with its own alignment tool.

it would be fine if you try the clutch replacement.... clutches fail for a variety of reasons like driver abuse, normal system wear, and poor maintenance. looking for highest quality clutch kit would be great.
