Sentra braking and dragging

I have a 2012 Sentra base model. I’ve encountered an issue that arose shortly after having my brake shoes replaced. My passenger rear wheel will lock up and drag (thankfully this has only happened at slow speeds). It seems to occur after being driven 15-30 miles/minutes then stopping for a bit (10 minutes - 2 hours). When driving, the wheel locks up as the brakes engage.

My mechanic says it’s mechanically sound. We’ve replaced the shoes (a second time), replaced the tire, replaced the abs module (with a used one from a 2008 Versa). It continues to produce the same lockup.

He’s going to replace the brake line next and I asked for the wheel cylinder to be replaced.

Has anyone experienced this and fixed it? I’m in for 5 trips to the mechanic and 3 tow truck trips due to this issue. I’m about at the end of my rope here. Any thoughts?

my guess would have been AbS module. But you changed it. something is telling it to engage and it sounds like an electrical problem. They make these plug in diagnostic modules. I have a blue driver. Not bad for the price. Learned years ago that something that messes up when its cold or hot is electrical versus mechanical 99% of the time. If you dont have a diagnostic tool get one , they are necessary to work on cars today. However like anything else you get what you pay for. The best of coarse is a snap on tester. Try that blue driver or if you can afford something better one go for it. Just make sure it works with ABS systems. Plug it in and hopefully it flags something when problem occurs.

Let me ask a silly question. Were your brakes ever bled and replaced with fresh fluid. Not sure but some of the newer cars after mine and mine is a 2007 sentra. you have to use special software to properly bleed brakes. Some of these shade tree mechanics may not know this. Took my car in once to have codes run before i got my own diag tool. The mechanic after taking car for test drive tried to tell my my transmission wasnt shifting right and it needed to be rebuilt. I didnt even bother to tell him it was a cvt and they don't shift. I just quickly left the place. That was 100k miles ago. He should have known that or he was trying to rip me off. But why even argue.
He was their head mechanic. lol
