There is loose hose with a U shaped metal what is it? 97 Nissan Sentra GXE.
It is on the driver side. One side it is connected to the bottom of the engine and the other side is attached to a U shaped small pipe. The small pipe is not attached to anything. Looks like the loose end was never attached to anything. Some photos are attached. What is that hose/pipe doing there? Why is it not attached to anything on one end?

Here are more photos taken from different angles. The other end of the hose seems to be attached with the transmission with a another little L shaped pipe. What is the purpose of this pipe? Was it attached to something at some point?

After looking through all the diagrams for hoses going into the tranny.... my best educated guess would be it's the breather hose.
