I have a 6cyl. 4wd 04 Xterra with 17,000 on it. I notice if I decide to drive with the radio off or park near a wall I hear a very small clicking noise. Almost like a valve/lifter clicking, or say if you ran your oil low but the sound is very low. I get the truck serviced regularly at the dealership, yet they say nothing. ANyone else have this issue and what do you suggest?

 

I have a 2000 xterra, with 55k on it. I have the same noise. Same response with service dept. also. So far has not been a prob. and yes, I get my oil changed all the time. So, as of now, i dont know if its a problem or not. but youre not alone.

 

I have an '01 and the clicking is from the fuel injectors. Just a thought, if you're worried; take a length of hose or short wooden handle and place one end on the engine and the other on your ear (standard caution advised: don't check the fan!) I found a bearing noise on my alt. once this way without having to wait for it to fail.
