minor but annoying problems with X-Terra

Our X-Terra is 5 years old now and we are starting to have some problems. First off, the air/heat will only work when put on 4 (high). Has this happened to anyone else? The brake light comes on for no reason. The passenger door is so hard to close you need to be a bodybuilder to close it. The driver door does not close properly..the interior light stays on. A lot of minor things I know but it is getting annoying. We have had no engine problems at all except for some recalls so overall we are very happy with our X-terra but just wanted to see if anyone else has had any of the problems listed and if so did you fix them on your own and how?

So how could we fix the fan switch? Could the average person do it? and the brake light? We have tried WD-40 and it lasts for a short time. We live in northern KY..is that overly wet and humid?

justjimmy IS A ****ING moron, do not and I mean do not listen to this assclown. blower motor problem is the resistor not the fan switch. check your pad thickness, sounds like you may need brakes ( fluid low). as far as your door keep your kids from hanging off it.

A little harsh , but the guy above me is right ...... when the blower only works on highest speed it means the resistor is bad..... easy to replace.

Deeznuts is right on the money but harsh, as for your dome light coming on when the doors are shut is either caused from one of the door switches or your door is out of alignment causing it to not push the door switch into the closed position.

:eek:Yea .... normally the outside rubber gets all jacked up and stops it from working correctly.
