DEAR FORUM,
I HAVE A PERPLEXING QUESTION. SINCE I DO NOT PUT MUCH MILEAGE ON MY SENTRA CURRENTLY, (ONLY 800MI SINCE LAST OIL AND FILTER IN JUNE 2005) OTHER THAN THE MANUAL, HOW WOULD YOU PRO'S RECOMMEND THE OIL CHANGE BY TIME? CAN I GO UP TO 5 OR 6 MONTHS? ( THE OIL STILL LOOKS LIKE NEW SINCE THE LAST CHANGE IN JUNE).

I would say that if you don't put 5000 miles on it in 6 months change it anyway. Condensation puts water in the oil and if you at least drive it long enough for the water to burn off you will be ok.

Not so. When you change oil every 3000 miles you are doing about twice as many dry starts over the life of the engine than you would at 5000 mile intervals. On the Sentra due ro the filter orientation you can't put much oil in it at all to lessen the dry startup damage. If you want to send your car into it's grave keep changing at 3000 mile intervals.
You are living in the past all conventional motor oils will live way past 5000 miles. My wife works at a lab that does oil analysis and most motor oil sent in at 5000 miles still is well in grade and low in acids. It's your money and engine life.

I got a question for this Oil topic -- I want to change my oil as least as possible -- what kinda oil should i use - i dont care to change to full synthetic - whats a good oil to use - Mobil oil says 15000 miles ??? gimme some advice? thanks

Amsoil claims 25,000 mile oil changes and it is about as expensive as the Mobil 1 extended life oil. If I were you I would use Amsoil and Amsoil oil filters too and I would change it at 15,000 miles not 25,000.
