Infiniti Shows off the new G37 droptop.
Hot on the tails of the Monterey release of the new G37 sedan and G37x coupe comes the official announcement about the new Infiniti G37 Convertible.
While many had hoped for a full run down of the specifications of the new droptop Infiniti, what we got is a date when we will actually get all of the information. Nissan has announced that the newest entry in the performance luxury convertible market will officially debut at the Los Angeles in late November 2008.
The details have been sketchy thus far, but the goals of preserving the physical appearance of the coupe have been maintained when the three-piece retractable roof is closed. When opened, it tucks away into the trunk area leaving no trace, and unlike some of the competition, the G37 convertible claims to comfortably seat 4 adults. As the model name states, the G37 will be powered by the Nissan 3.7L V6, and we are hoping and expecting somewhere in the area of 320 horsepower.
This new Infiniti convertible should easily compete with the current leaders in the class, which includes the BMW 335i convertible and to a much lesser extent, the Lexus SC430. The 335i is the biggest competitor for the G37, but time will tell if the BMW will have to do some work to get back atop the luxury convertible market.
