Default 1995 nissan hardbody, replaced motor, out of time

Last aug i bought my truck with a bad engine (ka24e) but a low mileage engine came with it. He had went ahead and replaced the timing chain in it. The pin was set to the first mark on the harmonic balancer not the second ,he pointed it out and said right there is TDC oil pump was already installed , but the distributor came off the old motor, well the guy i paid to swap the motors got the elec plug to the crank angle sensor (on the bottom of distributor) and another one confused , couldnt get fire so he ASSumed the timing was off. didnt get back to TDC and started trying to set the time without being at TDC removed oil pump started messing up. i stopped him, had it towed to my house. nobody is willing to even look at it for less than $800. I decided to give it a try myself. 1st in looking at a wiring diagram i realized the plugs were switched, well it fired i got TDC ( on the #1's compression stroke) removed distributor, dropped oil pump, reinstalled it to so that the rotor button is one #1 , but it trying to crank but doesnt i and when i stop it backfires out the air intake, i dont wanna bend a valve, not sure what to do next any advice would b appreciated thank you for your time
