Strange issue here: my 2005 Frontier XE 2.5 is breaking the power steering pump rear bracket and I have no idea why. It's done this twice in the last 1 1/2 years. (I've owned it for almost 8 years.) Everything in the steering system seems to be working fine. Anybody ever have this problem before and know of a solution?

You have a rare but classic issue. It is most likely that the "Johnson Bar" on the vehicle corroded. That is covered for 150,000 miles and repaired easily by having dealer perform TSB N5643-20-45 It is free.
