Fuel gauge won't show more than 1/2 full/empty

Default Fuel gauge won't show more than 1/2 full/empty
I Havea 2004 Quest and just replaced the battery the other day.Now the Fuel gauge will not show more than 1/2 a tank. At first it was showing completely empty, then moved up to 1/4. I knew there was more than that, so I filled it up. After I filled the tank the gauge still only shows half.

Any ideas?

Sounds like Fuel sending unit.
