Help: Code 54 - Short Signal Circuit from A/T Control Unit to ECM
What does this mean? I'm buying an Ohmmeter/multimeter today and a pressure gauge and just start checking stuff. I have no clue really where to start! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Info: (94 Nissan Altima A/T) - Car Doesn't start, just clicks and sounds like fuel pump is working... hmmm
p.s. I have no funds for a shop and I'm at work wishing I didn't have to take the bus home!

Re: '94 Nisson Altima ~ CodeP 0054
My "Actron" Scan tool DTC lookup data tells me that this code
indicates a problem with:
Fuel Air Metering Auxilliary emission Controls
This shoulsd not cause a failure of the engine to start but
more so be a factor in fuel economy and smooth running.
If your engine does not turn over when you attempt to start and
you hear only a clicking sound then the following checks should be made!
1. Check for battery charge level (should be 12 to 14 volts)
if less than 11.5 voltsit needs to be recharged.
2. If battery is fully charged and you still get only a clicking sound
then it may be a faulty/failed starter solonoid. It could also be a
failed starter.
The code P0054 might beeffected by a weak/dead battery as in #1
and may clear after recharging.
Good Luck with it!

RE: Help: Code 54 - Short Signal Circuit from A/T Control Unit to ECM
I had the 1997 Pathfinder sitting for a month without starting it up every so often. It failed to start last night, so my son-in-law said it appeared to be the battery. After reconnecting a new battery on, it would not start. I was told that some vehicles must have computer reset by doing a code like locking all doors and opening passenger side door and turning ignition to start it. Is there such a thing? And what do I do?
