red button and button on auto gear selector

Default red button and button on auto gear selector
hi , anyone know what the buttons are for on the auto gear stick ?
one is on the gearstick itself and the other is in front of the stick (red)
car is almera 1.8 e auto 2001

I know nothing about an almera, because they don't make them here in the US....... but one button is usually to unlock the shifter, and the other is normally the overdrive switch.
