Removing the Head Unit on a Nissan Sunny 92 model
Hi Guys,
Can anybody help me with this ? I just purchased a new Pioneer CD/MP3 head unit to replace the stock cassette receiver in my 92 Sunny. The problem is I dont know how to remove the stock unit, I cant figue out whether I need to disassemble the center console and how to do it or whether I shoul pry the radio from the front ..... Pls dont recommend blowing it up with C4 or TNT

Hi,
I'm new to the site, going by the lingo I think it's american.
Anyways, I have a UK model Sunny, K reg so 92/93 era. Takin the tape deck out is a pain but I've done it.
You do have to take off the black fascia surrounding the speedo and air vents above the centre console.
There are about 7 retaining screwes (2x right of steering column, 2x Left of steering column [under side], 3x above the gauges etc) - then its just a case of pulling and praying nothin snaps. Once it's half off, you then need to parcially remove the panel between the gear stick and the centre console fan outlets, just enough so that you can see 2 more retaining screws which point upwards in towards the windscreen, pull the panel back enough so that you can get in to unscrew them via the gap created around the switches.
Once those are undone it the fascia should come off without too much more wiggling, notice that the fascia does have a lip which fits under the centre panel so have a wiggle!
The next fun part is sorting out the wiring loom, but that's enough for me for one day.
I'll keep you posted. e-mail me if you like. I'm going to draw up a sketch.....

Hi,
I figured it'd be useful for people if I did a guide on how I did it, so I've put it on my webspace:

Enjoy
