Default Gauges

Hey all new to the forums but I just bought a 95 nissan 240sx se. The fuel gauge doesn't work and the tach moves up and down seemingly whenever it wants. The speedomoeter works fine, the lights and all work fine. All the wiring to the stereo was cut and I am no good with that stuff anyway but does anyone know what could be causeing this?

Default RE: Gauges

well it can be numurous things your fuel level float could be bad for the fuel gauge wich is located in the fuel tank, your tach probably has a bad connection or maybe a short somewhere. if you dont feel comfortable enough to diagnose it you can bring it to a nissan dealer or an auto electric shop and have it fixed at one of thos places. to let you know you can download the full service manual for you car here...
