Hi guys and girls! I am new here and I have a 97 nissan hardbody 4x4 with the kd24e and i was wondering what the difference between the kd24e and the kd24de? I was wondering because the motor in my truck is geting weak and I am wanting a rebild soon. But I have been looking on ebay for some pistions and stuff like that and I cant really find nothing for the kd24e. Also I am going to add a powed adder(turbo,cams) but like I have said I only see a turbo kit for the kd24de and not the kd24e. I am thinking it is a difference in heads dont know? Also havs anyone heard of this before? It should work. Thanks again!

 

The main thing is that the "e" is a single cam motor. The "de" is a twin cam. If you're looking for performance parts, the de motor is the way to go......unless you want to swap in a sr20det

 

I just went to ebay and looked for a sr20det motor and WOW. There is soooo much performance parts for that motor and a long block i can get for around 1500 bucks. Hell yea! That is deff. what i want to do! But i guess I would have to change harness,ecu, and maf and i am cool with that but what about my tranny will it bolt up to this motor? In the door jam of my truck is say's that my tranny is a fs5w71c hope that helps.But that would be my only problem!!!! Please help me out if you can.Thanks a ton again!and what is the difference between a red valve cover and the black one?

 

The DE should bolt in with on modifications, then you could boost it.The sr swap has been done before so it's possibe, but it may require some custom work.





Red tops are a bit older (180SX 91-93 and Silvia 91-93) but have the same hp, 205, as s13 black tops (180SX 94-98). S14 blacktops (Silvia 95-98) are rated at 220hp and S15 (Silvia 99+) are 250hp The newer black tops (s14 &15) are a little more tricky to wire.
