I have an 87' 300, and the key was lost for the car. The car ran perfect before the keys were lost. I had a new key made from the passenger side door lock, but when I try to start the car the engine does not even make an attempt to turn over or anything. There is power to the car though, the radio, lights and power windows all work. The security light on the dash does flash when I try to turn the car on though. The cars been sitting for a few months, so to get power I had to hook it up to my truck with jumper cables. Could this have something to do with the problem? Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be???? I would appreciate the help. later.

Have you tried looking at the ECCS and getting the code? On the passenger side kick pannel there is a small square computer called the ECCS unit. Take this unit off and turn the key on untill the computer flashes a code. Read the code and refer to the cover of the ECCS unit, this will tell you your code.
