Default '00 GLE Help

I'm attempting to install a new head unit in a '00 GLE and can't get the factory cd player out. Actually I can't even get the dash apart, this has been giving me a head ache for almost a week now. Even though I am not that familiar with the altimas, I am familiar with installing car audio systems. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Wow, Now I am curious to know as well! I have never worked on a Altima before, just bought a '93. I got my '04 Jeep figured out, and I too am fairly confident in my stereo installation skills. If you figure it out please reply. I would love to know how it goes before I attempt to do mine. What unit are you trying to install? Myself, I want to slide in a Jvc kd-s5050. Thanks....

listen what you have to do in order to get the old unit out. Under the AC/ Heat controls there are two screws (phiilips) you need to remove those first. Second get a small flat srewdriver and pop open the trim at the base of the stick.( the one that you change gears). Once you remove that also at the base there are two more screws. Take those off too. Pull the trim slowly and disconect the wires from the cigarete lighter. Once the trim comes off There are four more screws that hold the unit down, remove those and you are done
