2005 Altima SE Fuel Consumption
Just bought a 2005 Altima SE and the fuel consumption seems to be a bit high. The display, however, is showing between 12.9 L/100km (18.23mpg) and 11.2 L/km(21mpg), which by my research is average. But when I got the car (yesterday) there was just below half a tank and now today its almost empty.
I don't know specifically how many kms I've driven but it just "seems" like the needle is dropping a bit too fast. Is this maybe just because its a new car and I've just got to get used to it?
Before this I had a 1999 Maxima ES and could make a tank of gas last me 2 weeks, driving back and forth to work (15min one-way) and a bit of driving on the weekends.
According to www.fueleconomy.gov the Altima and Maxima are practically identical in their fuel consumption.
I don't know what I'm looking to get from this post. It just seems like the reading the trip odometer (or whatever) is telling me doesn't jive with how fast the needle has dropped in the past day.
One more thing... Is it normal for the DTE reading to change drastically? It went from like 100km to 88km to 68km in about 5 minutes. I had just gotten off the highway so I guess the mpg changed which changed the DTE calculation.
Man, I don't know.
Any thoughts are welcome.
