Default Airbag Dash Light Flashing

So I stalled a new stereo head unti in my 2005 Altima today and now a red airbag light (a man buckled in with the airbag deployed) is flashing. Why? How would I fix this? Any ideas?

I am guessing it has something to do with the fact that I had to remove the panel and disconnect the "Passenger Airbag ON/OFF" indicator below the A/C controls.

Thanks,
Travis

I own a '99 Altima with the similar problem. I have checked all of my connections and they seem to be okay. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to eliminate the blinking light?

Actually, I was told on another Nissan Forum that only a Nissan Dealer can correct this. I spoke to the dealer ship I bought my vehicle from and they confirmed that. Unfortunately, if the vehicle is turned on while an airbag indicator or other airbag sensor is disconnected, the cars computer system trips and "error code". The only way to correct this is to have the computer system hooked up to a diagnostic system that will clear the error code. The dealership offered to do this for me at $49.95, but screw that. I can live with a flashing light until I have to take the car in for some other service.

In you case, is you have not done anything to cause the light to come on, such as disconnecting indicator lights or airbag system, you may actually have a problem that need to be repaired in order for the airbags to deploy in case of an accident.

Good luck and sorry for the lack of a DIY repair.

some car parts stores have the computer system to check error codes and can clear it all you have to do is ask and most places dont charge. if you go to orileys auto parts they will gladly do that for you.
