Default Catalytic Converter

Hi,
I’ve Nissan Altima 1998 GLE model. I’ve service Engine Soon light on. I checked the code and it says problem with Catalytic Converter. I checked with my mechanic and he says there are 2 catalytic converter One is in front and one is in rear. He says he has to check which one is not working. He says refurbished catalytic converter might cost around 200$ plus a-2 Hrs. labor.
Can anyone suggest, what is the best way to go for it? Should I go for new catalytic converter? If yes can you please suggest where can I get better deal?
All your help is highly appreciated.
Thanks lot

Yikes, the second cat under the vehicle is probably the problem, as it has a habit of going bad, but if he is saying 200.00 plus labor, that is a good price because i have seen these in the 350.00 to 450.00 area!

Thank you jerseyparts for your reply. Do you think I should go for new cat or the refurbished one? I will surely end up in paying 200$ extra for new one. Thank you again..

I did oil change 2 weeks before and after oil change I added fuel injector cleaner and than fill up the gas tank. Week later the Service Engine Soon light gone which was due to Catalytic Converter. Does that mean Catalytic Converter was not bad at all? or the Service Engine Soon light is going off after some time. Can any one help?
Thanks lot
