Default gas mileage

2002 Altima s, Hi I live in the suburbs. Idk if that is considered city driving. I get only like 22 miles to the gallon. Well If gas is about 2.85 a gallon and I put in $20. Its finished around 160 miles. I don't really want to get into the aftermarket parts. However I want more efficiency. Does anyone have any recommendations to get better gas mileage n stuff? I'm not trying to really add horsepower or anything. Just better gas mileage. I feel like aftermarket parts can be bad for the car sometimes. Maybe a K&n shortram with heatshield? Also what size rims do you guys recommend? I'm trying to go more luxury than sporty.

check your air and gaz filter. if it's dirty, change it. it will improve your consumation. and i know you are not looking for more hp but you might have more after replacing it (if it's full of dirt)

for the rims, i think it come with 205 55r17 (not sure) you can play with the numbers... you could put 19' with 40 of height if i'm right. check this website for rims size http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.htmlthe only thing is not to cheat on the 3% rule.

There is only one answer, drive like there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal. I have an Altima 3.5 SE with manual trans. When Itake it easyI get like 25+mpg. If I driveagressivelyI only get around20 mpg or less.
