Default 2000 Frontier - Instrument panel problems

2000 Frontier Crewcab 4x4 - Instrument panel started to act funny. Speedo would stop working, tach stopped as well, lights for odo went out. I can hit the dash and things would come back on. Now that doesn't work and it turned off while in traffic and won't start. I let it sit for a week after towing it home and it started and drove for about a block and stopped again. It cranks but won't start. I have checked fuel, there is half a tank. When I turn the key to "on" I don't hear fuel pump nor do I get fuel to the motor. I don't know if it is the fuel pump or some condition from the Instrument panel or computer that has failed that could cause this problem. What can I test to find out?
