Nissan Frontier This mid sized truck offers the advantages of the full sized Titan with its large bed and great off roading ability, but with a smaller, more efficient engine.

Default 98 Nissan Frontier odometer

My problem is. I got a 98 Nissan Frontier that for the first time is giving problems. The odometer is going out of whack. The odometer was not going any further than 10 miles now is working but only when it want to.
Any ideas? /
Let me update this information. What you see on top happen 2 days ago. Today 02-10-207 I got in the truck the miles went from 128,000 to 999,999. The RPMs needle was moving up and down. The fuel gauge was way on top (I know the tank was only 3/4). The temperature needle was on HOT.
I turn off the truck. Turn it on and the temperature gauge went back to normal but all of the other gauges are not working properly. I went to the gas station and back. When I turn on the truck to get back all of the gauges were working normally

I will appreciated any help with this

Thank you

Am not an expert. So I will take any help I can get. Am not sure if I can take it apart but I will try this weekend. One thing, what am I going to look for??
Yesterday the neddles work fine exept for the RPMs. That needle was moving back and foward. Another thign I have noticed is. If theengine is cold the needles will go wild. If the engine is warm I don't have the problem.
What is PM?? Page??

Thank you

I have a 98 Frontier and have a similar problem. The whole cluster stops working when it wants to and the only way to get it back is to smack the dashboard a couple of times or pop the trip meter button and it may come back with either one or not, very frustrating. I have pulled the dash gauges twice now and cleaned all connections and pryed up all the pins that connect from the cablesto the circut board. They seem to have a mind of their own. I'm at the point of replacing the speedometer because it seems like it has to do with the trip button more than anything. The gauges take about 30 minutes to pull and replace, not a big job at all, just unscrew the sterring wheel cover, the bottom dash cover and the gauge cover, 13 screws, and them the dash cluster 4 screws and 4 cables.

Sounds like the printed circuit board is bad if you are having all of those problems at the same time.

I will give that a try, I worry most about not having a temp. gauge as I travel the interstate about 50 miles a day for work. I can deal without the gas and speedo as these are easy to keep up with. Thank you
