[sm=americanasmiley.gif]on some cars with timing belts its a sure thing you the timing belts need to be replaced at a given time. so i guess with these coils its not that way you just replace them as they go bad, how likley is it that the coils will go bad? is this something that is common with the v6`s ?

V6 is not the issue.

They will fail by the mile. Its sales created by design: electronics installed into hottest engine spot w/o any cooling, creates $weet aftersales revenue... One degree C temp increase halves component age.

....I would not say designed to fail. ...
My bad guess is, If it becomes possible, future coilpacks will be installed in$ide exhaustpipe also ... hopefully new electric carzars will survive to destroy this business line alltogether.
O2 environment is not comparable. (btw. its ridiculous 1V signal level shows that technology is in its infancy)
