Default knock sensor

does a 1987 maxima have a knock sensor an if so where is it,and what effact does it have on performance.

My guess is that it has. When bad, it reduces ign advance causing significant fuel consumption, pwr loss. It can be bypassed with5c resistor, read page9 how/why/what, & possibly youll find 'where' via top left 'Favorite Links' first clic link below.

87 Maxima doesn't have a knock sensor.

burnout just found out today that you are correct my 87 maxima does not have that sensor. but i am having a problem that i cant seem to figure out i have replaced plugs ngk,cap rotorstill not getting the power that i think this engine can produce it doesn't idle very smoooth and it surges some what while driving. any help would be appreciated.

Try some injector cleaner.... the ones you dump in your tank work pretty nicely...... at lot of the older car's are getting clogged injectors since they switched up the gas.

put in some seafome a weak ago is this good product to use or what do you recommend,an how many tank fulls do you Guss it will take.

Normally if it doesn't help on your first tank, it's not going to help at all.....never used seafome.... we use a product call power charge from wynns..... it works great.
