Smoking Maxima

RE: Smoking Maxima
One reason can be blocked PCV. Easy DIY clean -or- swap, 5$. To locate PCV, follow links via http://www.cardomain.com/id/pohjola#links
Valve stem seals or a broken piston ring might be the next (very costly) candidates... Take spark plugs out: do all look equal? Compare to www.ngk.com trouble chart... Go to shops for evaluation, ask quotations from few places. Unless no problem with emission tests and no need to add oil, keep drivin.

My 1999 SE does the same thing. A mechanic recommended that Mystery Oil additive. It worked, but...if I drive my Maxima like I stole it...then it'll smoke like a beeyatch!... If I drive like a Granny...It's ok...
When you get yours fixed, let me know what it turned out to be.
Thanks,

RE: Smoking Maxima
Reiska,
Thanks for your post...
I replaced my PCV Valve this weekend...and low and behold...No more smoke!
My Max even seems to run smoother as well.
The replacement was a pain, but it only took about 5-10 minutes. Most of the time was removing the strut bar to be able to get to the darn thing!
