To fix this issue, my mechanic installed a CHARCOAL CANISTER CVS-VALVE. This part was found to be stuck closed/shorted. The Check engine light was reading P0488 - EVAP. EMISSION VENT CONTROL SOLENIOD VALVE, its been a week since replacing, and so far the light has not come back on.
