Im new here jan16. I have a 2003 pathfinder that I love. Money is somewhat tight. I have had all services/oil changes etc. For the past yr the chk eng light comes on/off. Taken it in, no formal diagnosis. Then they say its a prob with evap systemn and 4-500$. i didnt believe them, and they wouldnt pass it inspection w/o. got serviced at gas station said fuel cap, no leak in evap. Lt still comes on/off.

More than likely they just put a scan tool on the car and got an evap code... unless you pay them to diagnos exactly whats causing the code it's hard to guess... but if I had to I would say it's probably the vent control valve on the evap canister... we have def. replaced quite a few of them.

 

Hey buddy, thanks for getting back to me, i havent been here in a while.

Its the evap canister small leak. What is an evap canister? How does the engine light come on, then ill tighten cap, and goes off after a few drives then back on.
