91 Pathfinder - Transmission shifts late
I have a 91 pathfinder that I recently bought that seems to be having a transmission issue. It shift gears ok, but it seems to shift late. It usually goes into second at 3000 to 3500 rpm and into 3rd at 3500 to 4000rpm. My brother rebuilt the tranny, but it seems to be behaving similar to what it was before. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

RE: 91 Pathfinder - Transmission shifts late
im currently driving a nissan serena and i m facing the same problem like urr, unresponsive tranmission gear change. not untill i install air power which brother accesssories shop selling now. eversince i install air power, the gear change are more responsive then before. maybe that will solve urrr problem. hey no gimmick men! it really works. the cause of getting one unit, it only $168/= plus installation. it claimed saving fuel and increased horse power . only take 10 min to install. if u do install air power and if u fell the difference pls let me know. o.k.

RE: 91 Pathfinder - Transmission shifts late
Maybe Nissan Pathfinders are slower in acceleration and have a delayed response in their electronic fuel injection?
My 95 Pathfinder has a switch hidden on the far left side of the dash marked "E-AT" and power.
When the switch is in power mode, it runs the RPMs up higher and shifts later.
I don't know if there was such a switch on the 91 or if it could have been programmed into its computer?
"That's all I know about that."
