I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot a 95 Pathfinder tranny problem. I've only had it for about 5 or 6 months and it is no longer shifting when it is suppose to. It has about 118,000 mi and has a very slow leak in the pumpkin area (suspect a gasket).

The tranny is full, and doesn't want to shift unless I let off the gas a touch, then shifts kind of hard. If I don't let off the gas it will race to near 5000 rpm's and then shift. Although I know I need to at least have the gasket changed, and etc., but someone told me it was likely a vaccuum problem. Is that true? Can someone please help?

 

have you ever had the transmission rebuilt? if so is it still under warranty and if not you might need a rebuild
