My 97 Pathfinder with an auto transmission shifts back and forth many times when going up hills or heading into a strong wind? Is this normal? I don't remember my 92 doing this. I have searched the forum and haven't come up on anything yet. Probably using the wrong terms. If something is wrong, anyone know what usually causes this?

 

Oh, I should add it does with the overdrive on or off. It doesn't matter.

 

Extremely heavy winds ? .... Best bet in an auto when going up mountains and what not, you're gonna want to turn Overdrive off and run in 2nd or 3rd depending on how steep it is.
