Gas Mileage - Need and update
I am thinking of getting a 2007 Pathfinder.
I've compared them to all the others looking at the HP, tow capacity , size and of course, price. The Pathfinder looks to be the best value at this time.
I'm looking for "real world" gas milege figures. The specs say 15/23. How close are these numbers to reality?
I drive mostly city and take the long, 2 - 3,000 mile trips a few times a year. I need reasonable gas mileage for both.

I have a 2001 Pathfinder and I average around 20 mpg and I drive mostly city. That is the specs for mine and they are pretty close. I thought that the Pathfinder was the best choice also ( I was looking at 4 Runners mostly). Good Luck.
I have an '05 Pathfinder with about 40,000 miles on it. I just took a road trip where I drove about 1200 miles. Most of the distance was driven on Interstate highways, running between 70 and 80 mph, usually usingthe cruise control. There was a little "around town" driving, once I reached my destination.
My MPG average for the whole trip was 21.5.
Oh yeah, I had a pretty wellloaded vehicle. There were 4 people... including myself, a bunch of gear, ANDI had a bike rack mounted in the tow hitch with 6 bicycles on it.
I have averaged as much as 24 MPG on the highway before. These have been short trips, on flat highways, runningaround 70 mph.
During my typical work week, when I am communting to and from work, in traffic, etc... I get about 18 MPG.
