I have a 2003 chilcoot SE. It just rolled over 150k and i am almost out of extended warranty. I bought the vehicle two years ago with 93k on it then. This oil consumption problem has been an issuefor about a year now. i am burning from 800ml to 1500ml between fill ups which is about 475km. I also experiencepower issues on warm days or after the rig has been running for a while. Of course the garage that i bring the vehicle too thought it wasbeing burned internally, or leaking somewhere, but everything has checked out fine. they have checked the exhaust and it is all clean, there is not a drop of oil to be found leaking anywhere. the dealer suggests that it is all related to a faultyair flow meter, and that it is a common problem. There are no codes in the computer and no check engine light has ever come on. I was hoping someone here could shed a bit of light on this for me before i go and replace an$800 part that is not covered under warranty, and no one can seem to guarantee that it will fix my problem. There are no other issues with the vehicle and it runs awesome other than those two symptons. Thanks for any responses or advise.
