Default USB-C Flash Drives Not Supported in 2024 Nissan Platinum Rogue

Good Afternoon Forum,

I have tried at least 6 different USB-C flash drives in the data port and the info system says that each one is not supported. I am trying to use these flash drives for music.

I have tried 6 different companies, 6 different sizes (8gb, 32gb, 64gb, 128gb, 256gb, 512gb), and these formats NTFS, FAT32, exFAT. When plugged in all say not supported.

I can use my regular USB 256 flash drive with a USB-C connector and it is accepted and shows music. But, it is very limited, at any given time it may show maybe 15 artists at a time and it always varies. I have 500 artists on this 256 flash drive, is 220gb full and exFAT.
I can find the root folder, but it doesnt show all the artists either, so I cant choose this option either. I have also tried cutting the amount music down in stages from 220gb down to 32gb and have the same issues as above with pulling up the music. I have also tried 4 different USB-C adapters and all have the same results.

Lastly, the USB 256 drive above worked great in my 2023 Rogue SL that I traded in for this new model. It had everything that was on the flash drive, I could access all 220gb of music, play all songs and artisits, with no problems. Then I need the USB-C adapter to use it in this SUV and have all the issues above.

Sorry for the long thread, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible. Any help or ideas would be great,
Thank you for your help and time,

Hi OneOfMany49,

Thanks for your reply and I did read your post. I have done alot of searches and see this is quite common. I have given up on the idea that the USB-C ports are used for data.

So, after a lot more trial and error, here is what I have done, and I will explain how bad this info system is.

I have a 32gb USB 2.0 flash drive attached to a USB-C adapter. I filled it to 25gb, FAT32, and loaded 15 bands.
Just like the 256gb USB flash I described in the original post, in the info system, Artists, it only shows less than 10. You click on the artist, and it doesn't show all albums. You click on the albums, and it doesn't show all the albums. If you click on an album, not all the songs that album show up.
But since I only have 25gb, or maybe it is because of only 15 artists (dont really know), I can actually go to folder (sometimes it shows folder, sometimes it does not), when the root folder comes up, I can click on hit and it actually shows all 15 bands. You click on a band, it actually shows all the albums and click on an album, and it actually shows all the songs on that album. This is the way I have to use the info system.
When the 256gb flash is connected, most of the time you cant open the root folder like the 25gb flash. If the root folder does actually open, only a handful of bands show up and you cant navigate like I just described above with the 25gb flash. Also with the 256gb flash, everything that I just described with the 25gb above that doesnt work, is much, much worse.

So I now have 10 - USB 2.0 - 32gb to start filling up from the 256gb flash, and try each one by one, to see if they all can work like the one above.

I hope this can help who are having these kinds of issues.
Any help or ideas would be great,
Thank you for your help and time,

Hi ccdp702,
Thanks for the reply.
I have a brother in law that has a Cadillac 2024 and I tried my flash drive in his system and of course it works perfectly.
I went to my Nissan dealer and tried the same flash drive on every Rogue SL and Platinum in the showroom and it does not work.
So I come to the same conclusion as you, the info system is crap and Nissan does not do anything about it.

Hi OneOfMany49,
Thanks for the reply.
Thats funny because I did the same thing. I tried the USB-C on another 2024 non-Nissan car and it worked. I went to another Nissan Dealer and tried in on several 2024 Rogue SL and Platinums and it did not work. I even tried on my 2023 Rogue SL trade in and it didnt work either. On every one of the Nissan's when plugging in the USB-C Flash the info system all said not supported.
I have the Platinum, so it has the digital dashboard. I have less than 500 miles on it, I was driving on the highway to work yesterday, and the dashboard went completely blank, but the info system stayed on. When it came back on a couple of minutes later (while still going highway speed) all the configuration I put in was gone. Looks like it rebooted and reset itself. Looks like I have to start another thread, lol. I wonder if anyone else had this happen and how many times.

Hi ccdp702,
Do not know if the recall for the new firmware would help ? or if it is meant also for the Platinum ? Sure hope that does not freeze up evrything, because that would be dangerous.
I am not a mechanic but you should probably go to your dealer and report it since it is still brand new.

Take care
