Default 200 sx won't start.. plz help!

Hey guys, I own a 1.6L 98 200sx, and couple days ago it stopped working. You can hear it crank over, and the spark plugs work sparks, but the car won't start. I've tried starting it multpile times but no luck, sometimes the rpm's bounce up to ~400 or so for like half a second but then back to zero. Also, there is a bit of exhaust coming out, it smells like diluted gas, but its a minimal amount.

Lastly, my battery is fine, I replaced the starter in the fall so its working well, and my dashboard lights all turn on when i turn the ignition...

Any ideas??

Did you check your alternator? it could also be a fuel delivery problem. Injectors or Pump.

K well i took it to the shop today. Appearently there was no compression, and the cause of all this was the compression rings weren't sealed properly.. so a dab of oil down the cylinders fixed that right up! go figure..

I think the problem is in alternator.
