91 sentra startup problems
I drive a 91 sentra se-r, and I am having some serious issues with the car consistently dying. About a month or two ago the car just died on the highway during some bad weather. I figured it was the alternator, so I replaced it. With a jump start the car started right up abd ran great...for a few days. Then a few days later, the car just wouldn't start, so I figured it was just a dead battery, and replaced that as well. Same story, car ran great for a few days then just wouldn't start again. It starts right up with a jump start and both the battery and alternator have been tested and came up fine. Now i am having the issue that after about 8 hours of not running, the car won't start up. So it seemed there was something draining the power so i've since unhooked the amp to my stereo and for a few days i thought this was the problem but now i am back to square one, same issues. Everyone keeps saying that it has to be the starter but i am skeptical and sick of wasting money and not fixing the problem. Please can anyone help me with any ideas of what could possibly be causing this.I am not very mechanically inclined but I know my way around a vehicle. Please help I'm broke and carless! Thank you in advance.
p.s there is a small digital clock that runs all the time on my dash but the rest of my gauges don't work. would the clock have enough effect to drain my battery?
also sorry i accidentally posted this in the skyline forum...

RE: 91 sentra startup problems
i already fixed the skyline post you posted but its sounds like you have an amp draw on your system you disconnect your neg. battery cable and hook up an amp meter between the neg. battery post and cable and you dont want to see anything higher then 0.25amps anything higher means something is causing a draw and you have to try and find the short to ground in the electrical harness.

RE: 91 sentra startup problems
It could be inthe the ignition problem.check the spark plug and see if the accel ignition are ok or maybe the problem is in the wirings.the wires maybe already worn out.
