My girlfriend's 97 sentra just stopped running the other day. She took it to the mechanic and they gave her a new battery, the car ran for one day. I looked at it and replaced the ignition fuse and it ran for three days with no problem. Just yesterday it decided not to start. When you attempt to start it there is no sound unless you are under the hood, then there is a small clicking sound located near the firewall. Is it possible that it is just the starter or something else? Please help before she gives all her money to some mechanic

 

go to autozone and ask them to check your alternator and charging system and its free and you should have around 13.5-14.5volts from your alternator. when you try to start the car does all your dash lights come on and you turn the key does the starter try to operate or does it do nothing and then work later? if it does do that tap on the starter with a wrench or small hammer its under the air intake and if it starts after doing that when it acts up then you possibly have a bad starter. but check your charging system first before you start throwing more money into it.
