Default car shaking

I have a 96 nissan sentra has 83,000 miles and yesterday I turned on the air conditioner and the radio an all of the stead the car start trembleing like if it wanted to turn off on me , sowhat I did was turned of the air and the radio and the car stoped and got force to remain on. Last Saturday it did the same thing my son went to work on it and it turned off on him and when he tried to start the car it wouldn't do anything the lights when dim and he told me that he waited about 15 minutes the car start with no problem what puzzles me the most is that none of the lights on the dashboard didn't light up. If someone has experience this problem please tell me what it is . Because I think it could be three thing or the battery is going bad or the alternator is going bad or the starter. I don't want to start buying parts without knowing what is going bad.

Thank You

Default RE: car shaking

The starter does not remain functional after the car has started. It is solely used for getting it going. After that it's up to the alternator to provide the energy. The battery is used to supplement the alternator. While you drive, the alt recharges the batt. and when you turn on the air cond and radio, lights ect.. the battery helps to supplement the alternator (a large electrical load can be too much for the alternator, the battery picks up the extra load).

The suspect here is the alternator. It is not properly recharging the battery with all of the equipment running. The battery may only have enough juice to help start the car, but not run AC.

A used alternator can cost about 70 bucks and you can install it with directions

Thank you for your advice yes it was the alternator and the battery car is working fine now I can turn on the air and radio and lights and it doesn't want to turn off any more. The shaking of the car is less I think it's because the car is going on 13th years old it's a 96 nissan sentra gxe the car has been good to me it has now 88,000 miles and I haven't changed any expensive parts yet. I can't complain this is the best purchase I ever made. Thank you for your help I did buy a alternator and a new battery for the car.
