Ok, I am not a car buff by any means and have a very limited knowledge of cars in general. However, I know enough to change my own oil and break pads so this is something I do when needed.

One thing that has always irritated me about my car is when I go to remove the oil filter, I can't seem to prevent getting my arm doused in oil while Im unscrewing the filter. No matter how fast I do it, its a mess. I am unable to reach it from the top so I have lay right under it...

Is this just a faulty design I have to deal with or is there some other way of removing the filter without getting doused in oil? Ideally it would be nice if i could reach it from the top and not have to worry about it. Thanks in advance!
