Default Hey there everybody!

I'm new to this forum so I figure I'd stop by and introduce my self. I own a 1995 Nissan Sentra XE with 1.6ltr engine and auto tranny. I haven't had a chance to do any sort os performance mods to it but hope to get some ideas from this message board. I'm planning on buying a 97 sentra that doesn't have a motor or tranny so I can have a blank canvas to do a performance oriented car (big motor, tranny, body kit, etc.). L8r, Kevin

I have a limited budget so I was going to do some salvage yard scavenging this weekend and see if I can find a sr20de to rebuild. What's the difference between the sr20de and the sr20det? I'm assuming both can be turboed or one is a turbo? And why can't a ga16de be turboed? I'm novice to the whole thing. I just don't wanna spend a bunch and not get what I want out of the car. Are ga16des' very desireable I can find them all day here for $150.00? Thanks, Kevin

well the highest horspower ga16de ive seen is 250whp and it ran high 12's in the 1/4 mile but theres not alot on the market for them to build the bottom end etc. but you can get an sr20de from any ser sentra or a infiniti g20. but the sr20det is already turbo and has lower compression. i personally was very dissappointed in my 97 sentra with all n/a bolt ons i couldnt even beat a stock mitsu galant so i sold it and built a 240sx.
but heres a site that will help you if you choose the ga16 route

There's a 240sx for sale right down the street from me and I'm debating on getting it. What's the hype about this car? Is it a good project car? If so I'll get that rather than go to atlanta and get that sentra.

I forgot to mention this, a buddy of mine at work mentioned that if I wanted more hp from the engine that I should port the head. Does that mean makeing the intake and exhaustinlets and outlets bigger or something? What does it actually do or help for performance?
