Radio displays SCI or SC1 ???
Hi all. I'm new here, and I'm looking for an answer to my problem with my radio. I've got a '94 Sentra XE. It's the stock radio (w/cassette deck). About a month ago, it started displaying SCI or SC1 on the LCD when you turn it on. Push the on button, the station comes up, then for about 2 seconds, it says SCI (or SC1, I can't tell from the display if it's the letter I or the number 1). Then the station comes back up. Same thing with the cassette. No sound comes on, but it functions normally in every other way. You can change stations, scan, etc. I read somewhere that the SC might mean Short Circuit. If that's so, what do I do about that? Where's the short circuit...
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.!

RE: Radio displays SCI or SC1 ???
the sc mean it needs a security code the only way your going to get that code is through nissan by the serial number on the audio unit and your vin and nissan dealers are the only ones that have access to the codes. if its to exspensive for nissan to do it for you i would just upgrade to an aftermarket head unit. but the sc on the screen means enter your sucurity code so when ever you get a dead battery or lose power to your stereo it will reset and ask for a security code to operate correctly again.

Thanks HXC_sentra, I'll look into that. I've had this car for nearly 10 years, and have had the battery disconnected for various reasons many times in the past, and have never seen this before. Thanks again, and hopefully I can sort this out with the Nissan dealer here in town.

Just a little update. The radio started working again on its own yesterday. We've got sound again, but the SC1 still comes up briefly when you first turn it on. Weird.
Thanks again for your help
