Default TDC problems

My first post... (I'm so excited)

Lets just say that the iginition system is toast. I’ve replaced the plugs wires distributor cap & rotor, and now I’m onto the distributor. I know it is bad, and the timing needs to be completely reset. (No, simplly marking the distributor is not an option at this point.) I need to know where to set the crank to TDC#1. The crank pulley has four little notches in it, but no numbers or other measuring device. Which of these four notches is 0 degrees? Thanks in advance.

Default RE: TDC problems

Solved my own problem Distributor gear has only two teeth, unlike the GM dizzy I'm familiar with which has many. This dizzy either goes in right, or 180 off. So if it don't fire up, it is in backwards. Take it out and put it back in 180.
