Default Electrical failure

97 SE-R

I was driving, heard "pop", then the wipers started to run (switch was still off), speed proportional to engine rpm

Stopped, pulled fuse for wipers

When I started again, the something in the instrument cluster smoked

Car still starts and runs

Blower motor works, but when it is shut off, the radiator fan motors run briefly

Power windows, locks, lights don't work

Has anyone else heard of or experienced this?

Check your fuses..... one of them is blown....if you pull the panel and read on the back of it , it will break down which one is for what.... check all that you think could apply....there is also a fuse panel under your hood... check that one if the others are all good....basically when your hear a pop and then more than one thing stops working.... it's def. going to be a blown fuse.

travisrd, have yu had any luck finding out what is wrong with your car yet?doesnt sound like a fuse to me. sounds like a short somewhere in the wireing harness but finding it could be a nightmare.you might try going over the the harness wiggleing stuff while the car is running preferably in a low light condition and looking for sparks.possibly something in the instrument cluster shorted? hate for yu to put in new cluster just to fry it too. feel for ya bro. let us know if yu get it fixed!
