whistling noise 94 sentra

whistling noise from drivers side front wheel when in reverse and when driving. does not happen when apply the brake

it may be your wheel bearings

it could possibly be wheel bearings but the way you desribed it, it sounds like your brake pads are down to the squeallers on the pads wich means your brake pads are down to 1/32 off pad left and when wheel bearings go bad they sound more like helicopter noise most of the time and the noise would not goaway when you apply the brakesbut it wouldnt hurt to check.
