Hello everyone! my name is oj aka Drift king. i have a 91 240sx. i want to buy a sr20det motor but i have a problem.i do not have lsd. only one wheel spins. can i still put the motor in or should i buy the correct diff?

 

hey whats up. well i wonder why you call yourself drift king when you have a one tire fryer 240sx i dont believe it lol. but for you info you can do the swap but your going to need a lsd, you have 2 options one you can weld the spider gears in your open diff but it will be lock up 100% of the time wich will cause tire chirping when you turn a corner but great and cheap for drifting but not street friendly. two you can swap out your diff for
95-96 infinti j30 diff 3.92 gear ratio $250-$350 from junkyard (taller gears, better mpg speedo will be 3mph off, lower rpm at cruising speeds and higher top speed)
95-98 240sx se with abs 4.08 gear ration $300-$450 internet and junkyard (same ratio as open diff but more $$$)
or install a lsd into your open diff $500+ ($$$$)
since you have an s13 your going to have to swap out your rear diff cover off your open diff and put it on the new diff. if it was an s14 its a straight swap.
i run an j30 diff on my rb26 s14 and its does the job for me perfectly and my car has a top speed of (175mph)

 

Lol well im learning the whole drift thing this was just a name i created to attract attention. But yeah that info helps out a lot. So i can run with the sr20 but going strait without stressing the stock diff. or would u suggest getting the diff first?
