KA24DE timing trouble
ive got s13 with a ka24de and my timing chain tensionerskeep going bad. is there a reason for that? also it just recently spun a main bearing[:@] and i need to know if its worth fixing or if it would be cheaper to just get an sr20det or an rb25det.

RE: KA24DE timing trouble
okay on the timing chain bit...get genuine nissan parts( i know they charge an arm a leg.... and one gonad...OUCH!). The after market ones go like mad...i have no idea why, guess thats just the way it is. as for the spun bearing. fix the berring. that will run ya maby 200bucks for all new( check out import performance parts...they got em pretty cheap) And, if needto, have the crank straightened and reground( should be 50-100 peso's) and go with the oversize berrings.Either way have the crank checked...most reputable shops will check it for bend and such for very cheap if not free. On the other hand...if ya go for the swap, be prepaired to drop up to 2k for the engine/tranny and 5bills for the IC, piping, and BOV. oh and not to mention the new exhaust and downpipe...and the cold pipe...and getting your harness wired...and so on. thats bout anouther grand or more depending on if you go name brand or not. Bet the new bearings arn't soundin to bad now!...but if you always wanted the sr swap...this is your big chance. just be prepaired to shell out the clams. got any questions on specifics hit me up!
