Has anyone had the catalytic converter to fail and ruin the engine on an '02 Altima 2.5L? The catalytic converter is positioned very close to the exhaust manifold. I just bought a '02 Altimathree weeks ago. Thank goodness that I bought an extended warranty for 3 mths/3000 miles. The engine developed a clicking noise after about 400 miles and the 'check engine light' came on. One of those portable readers said 'crankshaft position sensor'. So I replaced it and the engine still has the noise. The deal with the warranty says the Nissan dealer must preform all repairs. The local dealer says that the catalytic convertor internals have sucked themselves into the engine and basically ruined the engine. The car has 114K miles on it and has anyone had this trouble?
