Default Heater: Legs are cold, face is hot

New Frontier 2006, picked it up on 2/15/06. There is not enough hot air coming out of the floor outlets to keep my legs warm (they are cold, not freezing, some floor heat is coming out). And my face is hot becaues there is too much hot air coming out of the defroster and center vent outlets. So I open the window to try to regulate and it only helps a little (driving around in the winter with the window open is not much fun). I brought the truck to the dealer and he was snotty about it and said "that's the way it's supposed to work." I gave him a second chance and he was angry that I was questioning his authority. He said "the heater is fine and I should call Nissan Consumer Relations, this is a Nissan problem." And I thought he was part of Nissan. Anybody have any experience with this heater problem?

sounds like the heater control rod slipped or is not opening and closing the internal door that regulates which way the air flows, try checking the control rod while moving the selector back and forth either that or the air hse may not be seated right.

Cannot find any external linkage for the air flow control door. Have to take the heater/AC box out per the service manual (about 4 hours?). Thats why Nissan does not want to repair it (unless they have to if it gets to be a recall). I need to know if there is a better/shorter method to remove the heater /AC box to get at the air flow control door. Any ideas?
