Default Circulation fan

I have a Maxima SE 1998

Just recently my circulation fan quit working on speeds 1, 2, 3 but works on 4. I checked the main fuse box, all looked good. Any ideas how one speed works and three don't?

Thanks

your blower motor resistor is bad it regulates the speed of your blower and when they go bad it has a fail safe to work only on high.

If u mean cabin fan, it has a 'low speed resistor pack' on AC box wall behind glove box. Smtg wrong there... see arrow pointing ... inset is the squirrel nest (insideview) which should be vacuumed while there

I appreciate the responses. it sounds like the resister fan it is. On the web I see something that is described as the blower resister. Do you think a person like myself who has little to no mechanic backgroundcan replace it?

Thanks again

Doug

The resistor has two screws, connector. If u know which screwdriver end faces the screw, do it just turn... First tst is glovebox removal ... Note: It also may be loose connector, the fan sw.

I started to repair my own after a imbecile mech ripoff, catastrophic failure on highway ... luckily survived. Then I decided that I can ruin my own, lots cheaper. Then started buing tools: its rewarding to get it going, even when 'all' say you cant. Just decide youll make it, dont give up after catastrophic failures: youre still above mechs like that.

The resistor looks like a 3 inch by 3 inch flat card (like a printed circuit board).
I pulled mine out and bound a corroded solder connection on one side.
I cleaned it off and re-soldered the connection. It works fine now.
